Introduction: 21st Century Skills |

Background: In June 2007, Massachusetts was accepted as a leadership state in the national Partnership for 21st Century Skills. In May 2008, Secretary Paul Reville convened a Task Force under the leadership of Gerald Chertavian on 21st Century Skills. The 22-member task force, consisting of leaders in education, business and technology, was charged with developing recommendations for ways to integrate 21st century skills in K-12 curriculum. In November 2008, the task force provided formal recommendations to the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.
